The digital divide continues to close in Long Beach with the release of two tools aimed at helping residents stay connected in today’s fast-paced, technology-driven world.

City staff recently updated the Digital Inclusion Resource Guide and launched a new Digital Inclusion Resources Asset Map, both designed to make it easier for residents to access essential online services.

With digital access central to daily life, these resources are part of a larger effort to ensure Long Beach residents have the tools they need to thrive in the digital age.

The updated Digital Inclusion Resource Guide was developed through a partnership between the Office of Digital Equity and Inclusion and a network of local collaborators, including schools, nonprofits, libraries, internet providers, tech companies, workforce organizations and others—all united by a shared goal of expanding digital access and opportunities within the Long Beach community.

The guide offers easy-to-use, multilingual information on low-cost internet services, affordable computers and devices, and free digital skills training programs. It also features details on free public Wi-Fi spots and library resources.

Alongside the guide, the City introduced the Digital Inclusion Resources Asset Map. It’s an interactive map that helps residents and organizations locate digital services. Users can search for resources by location or specific need. The asset map, developed with feedback from community stakeholders, simplifies the process of finding support close to home.

These latest tools build on Long Beach’s growing reputation as a national leader in digital inclusion. Earlier this year, Long Beach was once again named a Visionary Digital Inclusion Trailblazer by the National Digital Inclusion Alliance—the seventh consecutive year it has earned the title. The honor recognizes Long Beach’s outstanding work to expand digital opportunities and reduce barriers for residents citywide.
